What Can You Expect?

Career opportunity in the Data Management team within Investment Accounting and Administration department, a part of Investment Management for an experienced Data Analyst / Data Engineer with Business Analysis expertise, specialising in financial and accounting data. This hybrid role combines technical capabilities in data engineering with strong business analysis skills to bridge the gap between our Investment Accounting and Management teams and our data platform.

Individuals in this role will design, develop, and maintain a complex data hub underpinning key business operations, while also acting as a subject matter expert for financial and accounting data — translating business requirements into scalable data solutions.

We are interested in candidates with any combination of the qualities described here, including Data Engineers who wish to do more analysis and also Business Analysts who have good Python and SQL skills who wish to do more Data Engineering.

As a Financial Data Analyst/Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:

Business Analysis – Financial & Accounting Data

• Act as a key liaison between Investment Accounting, Finance stakeholders, and the data engineering team.
• Elicit, document, and translate complex financial and accounting business requirements into clear technical specifications.
• Produce functional and data mapping documentation, including business rules for financial datasets.
• Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and data validation activities, ensuring outputs align with business expectations.
• Collaborate with internal global Investment Management clients to understand their unique reporting and data needs.
• Contribute to the definition and governance of financial data quality standards and KPIs.
• Work alongside experts in various technological domains.
• Enhance your skills with real-world experience
• Contribute to a team that values your input and creativity

Data Engineering

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain data products using data pipelines and APIs.
• Help with client requests for data extraction using your business and technical knowledge.
• Work with the team to understand platform capabilities and continuously improve and expand them.
• Instil excellence into processes, methodologies, standards, and technology choices embraced by the team.
• Keep pace with fast-moving data engineering technology and AI developments.

Business Analysis & Finance – Required

• 2+ years of business analysis experience within an asset management, investment accounting, or financial services environment.
• Good understanding of investment accounting concepts — including NAV, portfolio valuations, P&L attribution, general ledger structures, and regulatory reporting (e.g. IFRS, US GAAP).
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex financial and accounting requirements into data models, pipeline logic, and reporting solutions.
• Experience producing business requirements documents (BRDs), functional specifications, data dictionaries, and process flow diagrams.
• Familiarity with financial data providers such as Bloomberg  (highly desired).

Technical – Required

• 2+ years of hands-on Python / PySpark / SparkSQL and/or Scala experience.
• 2+ years of SQL experience
• Experience with AI, LLMs, Databricks Genie or similar tools.

Soft Skills

• Strong communication skills — able to engage confidently with both technical teams and senior finance/accounting stakeholders.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to challenge assumptions and drive data-driven decisions.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, globally distributed team environment.
• A positive attitude and a 'can do' mentality are essential.
• Must be comfortable communicating in English.
